ok ive never seen this in my life, I was just listening to the ipod relaxing looking a NYCT pics and i came across this  http://www.nycsubway.org/perl/show?2485  before you read the info at the bottom just take a moment to look at it lol.
Yes it will make you scratch your head   ???

Unfortunately it has been seen by many people already, especially if you had the that Subway Cars book.

That is a picture of an R10 that was retrofitted with an R42 bonnet as a prototype for a possible rebuilding program for the R10s. A similar prototype was made out of an R16 for the same purpose.

where can i get the subway cars book? and how many of these cars were put in service?

I'm pretty sure the Transit Museum still carries them, I forgot the title of the book.  The book was given to me as a present when I was a kid, so the latest model in the book was the R110A/B.  I'm assuming it was updated by now.

The Transit Museum prob sells them online if they do ill order one soon.
