Title: Have You Noticed
Post by: Failsafe on July 12, 2012, 05:27:37 pm
Even though i love the 8th avenue lines, my Neighborhood line is the 1 line. And lately i have noticed, that its now using R62 Railcars belonging to the 3 instead of R62A Railcars, Belonging to the 1 Line. Anyone know the reason for this? (Skip to 1:17 cause it freezes a lot)

Not that it really matters though, both the 1 and 3 are in the 7th Avenue line so it really doesn't matter. What I've seen lately is that some R62's from the 1 transferred to the Flushing 7 line. Its been a while since Ive seen this happen.

The R62As on the 7 line are undergoing SMS, so R62As from the 1 line are temporarily being used on the 7 line to cover
for the R62As not in service while being SMS'ed. A couple of spare R62 sets otherwise used for the 3 line are now being
used on the 1 line to cover for the R62As that went to the 7 line.

What is going on now is just a small taste of what it was like in the late 80s and early 90s when subway cars
were going out for big overhauls, all sorts of cars were running everywhere just to fill in for other cars that
were not in the system being overhauled.
