Please help..new here
« on: October 05, 2012, 01:33:57 am »
I'm new here and trying to download OpenBVE for my stepson. He is from NY and has played with this before. When I download the zipped files, all I get are files. How do I install the program or is it played online or what? I tried to follow the instructions, but I must be doing something wrong or just don't understand what I should be doing. Any help would be appreciated. I'm trying to put this on his laptop that is running at approximately 2 ghz with 1 gb ram and the OS is XP.

Create a folder anywhere on the computer, and call it "OpenBVE". Then extract the files from the ZIP file to that folder. And make sure you have downloaded all the dependencies too, or else it will not work. Then, clicking on "OpenBVE.exe" will open up OpenBVE. Download some trains and routes from this site to start playing it. (Put trains in the "Trains" folder, and route objects/route files/route sounds in the "Railway" folder, in the corresponding subfolders)
