General BVE/OpenBVE / Re: How difficult is it to build a route?
« on: January 14, 2012, 12:46:16 pm »
Dont go by my post count, I'm truly not a newbie when it comes to "using" BVE. Been on this site since the beginning, just dont post much because most of my questions are answered already.

Anyway, I see how clean and precise the currently released routes are and am not much of a developer, primarily a user. I ususally develop my own routes for personal use on Trainz.(its easier that way). Was just wondering how difficult would it be to create a fictional route based on the old Bay Ridge LIRR line, timeline, graphics, etc. Just wondering if I should stick to just "using" BVE or should I give it a shot trying to develop. This question is mainly for devlopers, but would welcome comments from ppl who have tried it themselves.

You need 10 things to do a route.

1. Understand basic math
2. Have an eye for detail
3. be able to think in 3-d
4. Patience
5. Patience
6. Patience
7. Patience
8. Patience
9. Patience
10. More patience

Thats it. if you have those 10 qualities, you can do it.

Other Games / Re: Practice landings in FSX
« on: January 02, 2012, 07:54:57 pm »
Does anyone know any short routes in FSX where I can take off and then practice landing (both ILS and manual landings)

I know that Snohomish County and Seattle - Tacoma International is 30 miles apart, but I've done this practice run so many times I want to try out other routes.

FSX players, do you have any suggestions?

If its a small plane try Republic to Teterboro. Commercial Airliner try Bogota , Columbia to Quito, Ecuador. Getting a jetliner into Quito is a nice challenge.

« on: December 31, 2011, 05:58:48 pm »
Yes it will be sad for LI Bus to go. but your freind is blaming the wrong person, Nassau County is $310,000,000 in debt, the MTA wanted $20,000,000 more or cut the service in half. Because Nassau is under a state financial regulatory authority called NIFA. Mangano cant spend more than $50,000 without approval. The MTA and NIFA are both state agencies, where is Governor Cuomo, Senators Schumer and Gillebrand`s help. they haven`t lifted a finger to help LIBus` 100,000 daily riders? Something that LIBus riders should think about come election time.

What do the run numbers on buses represent? Say I have a B47 run #15 or so, what would that mean?

My guess is that the designation is just for internal purposes to keep track of scheduling and employee assignments and whatnot.

Someone on the inside would be able to elaborate on that to much greater detail.

Fan Railer is correct. When the schedules are made they set them up as "runs" Each run has a schedule. That #006 on the pic above would mean this bus is Run #5 on whatever route its on. TA Dispatchers will stand at corners and record hat time the bus got there and then check that runs timetable to see if the bus is early\late\or on time

That is true Joe , but whenever something goes "private"
in long island its anything but "pretty and nice"

I agree but my point is everybody is all over mabgano, when he has no choice. the mta demanded the county pay 3 times what we were paying or have half the service cut, now with veolia were paying less but the service for now stays the same. this is the best mangano can do now, lets see how it goes

well nassau has no choice. the county is hamstrung because of all the generous contracts that they gave to the county workers for years. Mangano needs to save money. Its sad for the 100,000 riders but mangano has to answer to the 1.5 million residents.

No guys you dont understand my question i meant what would the MTA do To This Problem. Would Workers comes and try to get the train back on its track or just throw it in the ocean something like that!

They usually set the trainset on fire and roast marshmellows for the survivors

Station Talk / Re: On the basis of getting stuff done
« on: December 01, 2011, 07:49:01 pm »
The problem is this. NOBODY wants to take the time to learn how to develop a route the right way. Ive said it 100 times, but nobody listens. Same thing to people who want routes done but cant develop. how many times have i asked people to give details of stations, but in all the years of asking I have received ZERO information. We are all busy but we have c lose to 1000 members and 468 stations. You guys want routes either learn the RIGHT WAY or HELP OUT.

The Queensbound 7 was created by Ermie Alston in March 0f 2001. At that time bve limited you to 256 objects and 8500 commands.
