General BVE/OpenBVE / Re: How to improve performance on BVE and openBVE
« on: February 23, 2011, 12:52:05 am »
A note about all of these things really:

While better hardware will definitely speed up BVE2, BVE4, and OpenBVE, it is important to note that there is a threshold in which the coding of the program itself acts as a barrier preventing more speed increases. This is mostly prevalent in the realm of loading times but also appears a bit more abstractly elsewhere in areas including frame rates.

However this threshold is very difficult to reach, ESPECIALLY with OpenBVE (Which IMHO is one of the most resource-efficient programs I have ever used)

In addition it is important to make sure that one's drivers (especially graphics drivers) are updated; you can have a SSD, a Core i7 980X, 32GB of DDR3 RAM at 1800 MHZ, and the fastest graphics setup available but as long as your drivers are outdated your hardware will mean nothing. It would be like trying to use a battery-operated saw to cut a foot wide hole in concrete.

But all in all that is a very helpful list.

I will be releasing a new version of the R38 very soon that includes some minor realism enhancements and fixes.

Changes Include:

· The second power notch of the controller had a black edge on the right, this has been fixed.
· I have reduced the aliasing on the pressure gauge to a certain extent.
· When the reverser was in forward, there was a little black line cutting between the reverser handle and receptacle, this has been fixed.
· When the reverser was in forward, it was a little too high on the panel, the inverse was true for when the reverser was in reverse. This has been fixed.
· A small tweak was made to the right side of the panel that included only 2 pixels, it is hardly noticeable in OpenBVE.
· I lowered the height of the cab as per the requests of several people.
· I also tweaked some colors in the exterior.

I have sent the updated R38 to error46146 for release.

As always I am still looking for people to port the R38 to BVE4...  :P

No I don't have an exterior.

Look in the A line object folder, there is an R33WF on that route.

Ask for permission first though, IDK who made it.

Btw I can get handhold textures for an interior.

Also anyone with videos of the R33-WF either post them here or PM me please.

Station Talk / Mobile BVEStation?

What ever happened to the mobile BVEStation?

I went on the forums on my iPhone once and I got an iPhone-optimized version of the site.
For some reason that version doesn't exist any more, any chance that it can be reinstated?

Great great great work!  ;D

Yeah i've noticed that in my opinion, some of the R142s are louder on the inside propulsion-wise.
