NYCTA Projects / Re: BMT A/B Standard [OpenBVE] - Official Thread

since they're not Stainless steel it makes no sense of repainting when weather will affect the cars look.
Actually body paint serves not only a cosmetic purpose, it also protects the car shell itself from rust and other issues. Normally the paint does little but it does prevent humid and salty air from causing corrosion to otherwise exposed parts of the car.

there are four BMT standards on the property. The one you are referring to is the one in the Transit Museum. It has been cosmetically restored but it can't run under it's own power because one of it's trucks is from an R9.

The other 3 are at Coney Island yard and were being fully restored to operational status, although I don't know if the restoration has been canceled or not due to budget cuts.

yeah both have AMUE braking systems and those distinctive spur gear units that make that lovely groaning noise. However because the BMT Standard is longer than other subway cars, the run sound would have to be modified to simulate the longer distances between the trucks on each car.

does anyone else have some missing walls on the 57th Street - Queensbridge section?

Yeah I also noticed that in the rain version that the tracks after Smith-9th Streets are weird right before the switch to the layup track.

Also in the rain version, could the Oskari's rain function be used in the route so that trains with windshield wipers could actually wipe away raindrops that appear on the windshield? Look at the East London Line Route with rain and the A Stock to see what I mean.

Its nice to see some long switches. I hate it when I go over an extremely short switch and i go through walls and signals  :P.

damn that stuff is hot Mr Railfan!

Great work!

PS you should back this up over bvestation ftp, email, External HDD, etc. It would suck if you lost your work.

damn thats some great great great stuff tjay! Can't wait for this one!

If anyone can convert the R38 to BVE4 compatibility (It is quite a task I warn) please PM me.

It's gonna have the R-12, 15, 17 right? (as exterior ((possible interior))?)

If I can get permission, sure.

Some work is being done sound-wise on the R33-ML. Expect a better screeching sound as well as better run sounds.

The RFW version of the R33-WF is progressing slowly due to school work.

Yeah it is better to make it more detailed. In a few years mainstream computers should be able to run it with ease anyway. Just look at the original A line. I got 15 FPS at best on the computer I had when it came out. Last month when i got a chance to use BVE2 on a mainstream 2009 win XP computer i got a solid 40 FPS.
