Uninstall Question
« on: February 25, 2013, 11:27:11 am »
I need to uninstall OpenBve.

I have looked in Add/Remove Program but there isn't any entry.

Can someone help me through what I need to do to remove the programand any registry entries that have been written.

Many thanks

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Michelle intentionally developed openBVE as a "portable" application.
Meaning it does not write to or read from the registry, unlike BVE2 or BVE4,
and can be placed in any folder on any drive, even a USB stick.
Thus, to delete openBVE, simply delete the folder and reboot.

Simply delete the C:/Program Files/OpenBVE_stable folder. All files for the game are stored here.

You don't have to reboot. Once the folder is gone, the program is gone.

Thanks for the replies. I thought that was the case but just wasn't sure it was that simple.

You don't have to reboot. Once the folder is gone, the program is gone.

Not always.  If the program was run since the last boot,
memory could still be allocated to it, depending on hardware, OS, and settings.
Rebooting insures that RAM is also cleared.  Belt and suspenders!

If you want to delete all data create by OpenBVE, don't forget to delete also the directory '%APPDATA%\Openbve' of your user Windows. (Must be done for every user Windows which launched OpenBVE)
