Copyright issues will always get in the way if you want to convert a Trainz train to BVE.

If anybody knows Tony C. 's contact, I might be able to get the M3 here.

The answer is simple: It is NOT possible. Come on, really? We'd have every route under the sun if it were.

I'm aware that there is a Blender plugin that will convert .3DS files to CSV/B3D, however the amount of polygons generated for the object alone will crush any dreams of running routes smoothly.

Once Trainz IM(Indexed Mesh) files are in-game as .IM, they are irreversible and cannot be converted to any other format for editing.

My R160 model successfully made it from .3DS to .CSV...

...but with 14,230 polygons even the fastest computers can't run it. So in conclusion, Trainz models will never be available for BVE. Case closed.

Oh, and do not ask me about the status of the R160, because it is not in development for BVE period, and do not ask me for it. This is the development topic for the Long Island Railroad Route. I'm just clearing things up.

Actually its possible with a little cheating, as nobody can see how obvious the solution is.  But since I do not have Trainz, and I'm certain there will be copyright issues, and just overall outcry of converting trains from Trainz to BVE, (cause its just unnatural) I dont think I want that to happen.  If somebody knows this little cheat and wants to do it, with all the green lights for permissions and everything, then be my guest I'd love to see something like that.

Anyway this topic is about the LIRR Atlantic Avenue Branch route, and just the route.  I'll figure out what train will be on this route when its done, which wont be anytime soon.  Not the M3, not the M7, not Trainz, not converting trains.  So now that we wasted a page of topic off topic, lets get back on topic, otherwise I'll start moderating.

I'll talk to error and see if we have any M3 recordings. If we do then I'll make a run sound pack
