So I got back to Object building after a long hiatus, and made some new trucks for the 142A part of this project.

No this was not made in Sketchup, this was made all hand coded, which means it should be a smooth run.

Transit / Re: MTA Cutting Service on 12 Bus lines

Damn, more bus cuts? This is insane.

I hope they know that by cutting bus routes it doesn't do anything to decrease congestion, or help the budget, especially if they keep getting new buses every other day. It just makes no sense.

It also takes more effort for the developer to make videos instead of images, eventually filling his/her YouTube account with a bunch of unnecessary videos. While this makes more sense for the now, the route will be up for years after the development is over.

Not a problem. If there was a way to get them out there faster, then i'd be all for it.

You don't just start out with real IRT routes. you have to build fictional routes first in order to gain the credibility of being able to build a real IRT route.

BStyles

Bias statement.  If someone catches on to coding very fast and can make their own textures and such, you'd jump straight to a non-fictional route.

Would you say Mudwrestle had credibility before making his R32?

I never said anything about trains, I said routes. With trains you can easily gather information to obtain the right physics.

Just because someone thinks they know everything about coding doesn't mean they know how to develop routes. That's like saying you're a fourth grader that knows more than an elite scientist: not gonna happen. And for the record, routes are built off of more than knowing how to code and getting textures, or else you're making the last five years of NYCTBA development one big stereotype.

You could make the sound play by itself via coding, but since there aren't any passengers in OpenBVE to displace the weight the sound wouldn't play the way you want it to.

Making axles rotate will not affect its performance. The fact that they are a part of the train will not increase the amount of frame rates you get whereas a train with no axles at all will run a lot better.

If you still want to stop them from rotating, in the Animated file there is a line of code that goes something like this:

[object]
States = Trucks\Wheel.csv
Position = 0, 0.432, -7.04
RotateXFunction = value + delta * speedometer / 1.55

Open the file in notepad and delete what's in bold and your wheels will stop rotating.

Actually no, the dirt on the walls of the tunnels and the headlights make the light a yellowish orange. If this were a perfect world(lol, perfect) then that would be a white light.

On something like the 1969 Franklin Avenue Shuttle, that would look just about right.

General BVE/OpenBVE / Re: Real Routes and Fictional Routes
« on: April 22, 2012, 01:23:04 am »
Kevin does have a point. I think what he's also trying to say is that the quality of the objects used on most routes could use some tuning, but i'm not going to get into that.

While it may be a common factor that non-fictional routes aren't getting put out as frequently as the fictional ones, there's also the factor that no one has been here to aid in development. I've been hearing a lot about why we haven't put out routes yet, and why the ratio of real to fictional is on a 1 to 10 ratio, but I haven't heard about anyone helping us with the work load. Even this topic is a clear example.

Like EDawg said, this is a hobby, and we're not getting paid for it. You don't know the real meaning of the dollar until you're earning it, and setting your own free time aside for your work, or your family. Back when this site started, routes were being put out all the time, both fictional and non-fictional. Asking us to do that 5 years down the road, when we're all grown and have people and bills to support obviously isn't going to get you the same result. If you're being honest about what you do, and you know you don't have time to develop, or contribute, then it's fine. You're not at fault for being human.

This doesn't however, go the same for the crowd of below 18. At 18 you become an adult, so anything below that is still in his/her early adolescence. I'm developing because I love doing it, not because I want to appease you. If I lost interest in what I did, then in the blink of an eye, my work would be discontinued, and that would be the end of that, until someone else decides its their time to pick up the slack.

By the way, on the basis of the fictional routes, at one point in the site's history it was a rule that a fictional route be made first so that the developer get a feel for what they are doing, and obviously it's become a habit (one, because there's a limitless amount of creativity in the fictional routes than there is in the real ones). At that point, an accurate skeleton of a real route would be given to the developer to detail, and that should've yielded a similar output. You can't just jump into something and end up getting in way over your head. It's like thinking you know every single thing about a Windows PC  but when you get put to work in their technical department, one line of encrypted code may seem like hieroglyphics to you. It's a stepped process that needs to be taken very slowly.

"Of course, New Jersey would like to have it because they think they can get across the Hudson for $2.25."

What he really meant to say was:

"I'mna charge them out the ass if they think they're gonna get over here for $2.25...how about $7.50?"

You guys have to realize that once they cross state borders the rules change. If MTA decides not to support it and then the Mayor secures funding and starts construction, that leaves MTA in charge of the fares. Not only that, it also appears that all of the funding would be brought to NY, which means that NJ will only see the benefit of ridership as opposed to revenue.

BVE/OpenBVE Support / Re: OpenBVE Being Laggy or Slow
« on: April 06, 2012, 11:21:09 pm »
Why you're still using Pentium, or why Windows 7 is even on a Pentium is way beyond me. That's your first problem.

Second, your memory seems to be alright, unless you're running OpenBVE with a ton of other processes, at which point yes, it will lag.

Third, programs like Trainz and OpenBVE do not run well on Intel Integrated Graphics, which is what you have. It means that it's integrated to the motherboard, and that there is no graphics card at all, whereas a computer with an AMD processor and an AMD/Nvidia card would work just fine. This laptop model has reached its limit as far as performance.

It's just basic math. If a face goes up at an angle, then decrease the number of meters little by little until it levels off, and then just copy and paste for the other side. To make it flush with the object then takes a bit of texture modding.

You could've placed a list of all the commands here, and then press CTRL+H in notepad and replaced them the same way.

Can't just use pictures off of NYCSubway.org, like that. You need permission in order to do so. You might as well get them while you still can.
