Photography / R46 Cab Ride
« on: July 02, 2013, 02:14:37 pm »
I had a chance to ride in the conductor's cab of an R46 on the (A) from 34th Street Penn Station to West 4th Street, Manhattan.

Credits goes to the MTA and the conductor that kindly allowed me to step into the cab.

A bit of eye candy for a Sunday morning....

At 03:11 and 04:12 - remember to update the wall textures

They are already re-done.
Remember, it's a beta. It's not finished yet.

Exactly. And correct ! To see the progress of this route, see my official thread here: http://forums.bvestation.com/index.php?topic=2346.0

Update:

1. Fixed the orange lights to white lights.

2. Made an upside down blue exit light to replace the blue box.

3. Updated station form to a photo bitmap for max realism.

4. Overall bug fixes.

Screenshots coming soon.

Oh understood. My mistake. I think I'm going to use the incandescent lights for the boroughs that are not using florescent lights then.

I'm assuming these are incandescent lights?

21
Those are construction lights and not permanent fixtures.

I know - I'm basing the white rectangular LED lights off of those (unless it's already in LisaRaye2). The permanent placement of the lights will be way further apart than those construction lights.

22
Recently, the MTA has actually been installing LED fixtures instead of CFLs.

LED lightbulbs are actually part of the custom textures I am making. The line will feature rectangular, small, white LED lights for the Manhattan borough.

[ Edit : This is one of the pictures I am using as a guide:

This is the update thread for the (R) to Forest Hills.

I am the official developer of this line along with my contributing developers, JayJay85, Mr Railfan, ipaclansite, Phantom909, and Imanuel.

Before I start flooding you guys with screenshots, I just want to get this message out to everyone:
These screenshots are BETA screenshots. They do NOT represent our final build. There will be mistakes in here. And some of these mistakes are put in here intentionally for testing purposes.

[EDIT] For those of you thinking "?? who are you?" - I am Lashrathius, a Head Admin at OpenBVE Connection. I was given this project to finish by Imanuel and Mr Railfan back in Feb. and am currently working on retexturing the skeleton.

With that said, on with the preview !

These tunnels features custom objects using textures I have made from scratch. Here is one of them:

This is Whitehall Street South Ferry Station:

And finally, an R46 standing by at 95th Street Station ready to depart for Forest Hills.

That is all for now. I will keep this thread updated from time to time. Expect updates a few times a week.

Enjoy !

Oh gotcha, btw where do I find the "Broadway" object folder, is there any other Broadway folder besides the one that Immauel's Q uses?

The (N) uses the newer textures from the LisaRaye2 folder and not the Broadway objects. (idk about the final version, but it was LisaRaye2 when I installed it).

OK guys. Here is the updated video of the (N) BETA that was released earlier this evening.

Note the fantastic textures for the sky and I apologize for the lag spikes caused at the entrance to 57th Street 7th Avenue. The beginning was shot flawlessly though

Sadly, I didn't recover anything. Only the (W)  ;)
But yes, a newer BETA version of the (N) was released earlier today. I will update this thread with a preview soon! And trust me, the sky looks fantastic!
Well done Mr Railfan!

General BVE/OpenBVE / Re: (Q) Local to Coney Island
« on: January 18, 2013, 12:32:14 pm »

Well .RW is outdated and it doesn't support many new features. For example, .rw can process limited animations (to my understanding) and many animated objects will not work properly if at all. I mainly utilize .CSV coding because it can support animated effects such as sparks on the rails, animated moving objects(such as moving trains on other tracks) and animated signals such as timed signals. It also supports animated tripcocks. You are also limited in the number of commands you can do in .RW compared to .CSV.

On a side note, good luck worth your project. I will be releasing the modified (Q) line [originally released by jayjay85] from astoria going to Brighton beach with animated signals and such most likely this weekend(Delayed from earlier this week due to some personal things i need to attend to first).

If you need any help feel free to post. Also, my suggestion is that you should build the route going the opposite way coming out of Coney Island and going to 57 Street or Astoria, this way we don't have a split/duplicate project.

I did notice the limitations of .RW. The sparks were implemented when I started to experiment with some CSV code with the London Underground Northern Line .CSV. I basically copied and pasted some LUL Northern Line CSV code to an existing .CSV file from the current (Q).
[for the record, its just experiment and I never planned on copy and pasting. its just something I experimented with] - thats where the sparks are from.

Since I'll have some time this weekend, I will try and migrate over to .CSV and transition my developers over. Will post an update tonight.

[Update]: As of Jan. 17, 2013, third rail sparks will be revoked until my company's Graphics Department gives me better spark images instead of just a blue circle.

As for the route - any X switch code is appreciated. I am currently coding in RW, as I am unfamiliar with .CSV. If I can do "more" with CSV, I will switch, though it will delay the development as I have to re-teach my developers how to code in a new format.

Please give me a few suggestions, possibly a comparison of what I can achieve in CSV, as I have heard countless requests.

Lashrathorus
