So here is one of the next major development projects that will be started in the first half of 2015: The Silverliner V EMU built by Rotem for SEPTA (also known as SEPTIC lol). For now, since the SLV exterior is currently non-existent, the M7 exterior will be used as a placeholder.
The first video video showcases the unusually high rate of starting acceleration (for a commuter rail EMU) that the SLV is spec'd with: 3.0 mph/s from stall speed up to 30 mph. With jerk factored in, you will notice that it takes just about 12 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 30 mph. In addition, in the second video, we test the total time it takes for the train to reach 100 MPH, which is not long at all; about 1 minute and 15 seconds. Also, deceleration is tested, and with a rate of 3.0 mph/s, we are able to bring the train to a full stop from 100 MPH in just 35 seconds. Very impressive performance.
Compare this to the acceleration specified by the RFP issued by SEPTA when these cars were still in procurement: https://web.archive.org/web/20070927022208/http://www.septa.org/business/over25000/silverliner_v/SLV_TS_AUG_05_r0.pdf

I have a few sound references myself, but any additional *high quality* samples that you can get for us would be much appreciated. I will be sure to include your contribution in the credits when the train is released some time later in 2015/2016.

Will do, I'll start working on it right away
