The sequel to the LIRR Main Line demo route as featured by bill (to test his R160 Alstom) from Kew Gardens to Forest Hills
The R160 Alstom for OpenBVE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhdnkQaJeQI#)
Announcing the LIRR Atlantic Avenue Branch.
This route will run from Atlantic Terminal to Jamaica. I don't know what generation this route will be, you guys can decide. As for accuracy, I'm doing the route based on photos, and videos that I've seen. I'm also using Google Maps, and of course I've rode the route once, but its probably not enough for me to just memorize the whole ride, but might help me in terms of the feel lol :P So dont kill me if its not accurate. It'll be more accurate than my LIRR Main Line, but less accurate than the R.
This is just a side project for me, for fun, but I'll definitely try to make this a release. If anybody has sounds, or photos and wants to help, I'll be more than happy to use them!
Enjoy! :D

This is really cool... I can't wait to get this route...
-
Nice Cant wait to operate this one!
-
are you going also going to make a m7 train i want this train so bad i know sobody started to make it before i dont know happen to it so i hope you make a m7 train
-
Dude, we said this before, the M7 EMU HAS, been made. It sounded like the old R143 by Eddie Yee,, but with a slower propulsion. It WAS on TTMG.org along with the R142, R29, R160A/B, until people started modifying Trevor Logan's trains which he didn't appreciate so he took all his trains down from the internet. So you're kinda behind dude.
If I were you, i would try and contact Trevor and ask for the M7 though the answer will most likely no. If i could help you, i would.
Back on topic... can't wait to finally see some LIRR action! and is there any possible way that you could send me that route you just ran? I wanna use it as a test track
-
Well, someone's going to have to make a train for this route eventually, unless you want to run this route with one of the NYCTA trains. Whether that's the M3 or the M7 is up to the creator.
@ipac: Can't wait.
P.S., is that an orange (Q) on those signs?

Where and when did the M3 come out?
-
The M3 was created a long time ago in the days of NYCTBA.com, the original BVEStation site.
Thankfully, the site has been preserved, courtesy of the Internet Wayback Machine, so the M3 is actually available for download here (http://web.archive.org/web/20041205003147/http://copper.takiweb.com/~ntwrkguy/bvesite/LIRRM3.exe).

That is a Orange Q and Ipac got it right... If you go to the real Atlantic terminal they still have the orange Q stickers :P
-
Well, it is the MTA. Can't expect them to get everything right. At least the letters are correct; it could have had the (W) on the signs like it was at the 62 St station on the West End line until last June.
-
Interesting project Kevin I wish the best to you and I'm looking forward to a great route!
Ehh...since the M-3 & 7 aren't available it wouldn't hurt too use the R-46 or R-44 on this,I'm sure they'll pickup decent speed. We gotta tell Bill to ungovern his R-46 & make it look like an R-44 70's style lol.

Did The (R) train get released yet?

Beautiful work once again Very nice Indeed.

Nice Job I can't wait

Thanks Lance

No, Joe is working on it.
And we have been in talks about a new LIRR train. We're not sure what class yet because we can't get a decent panel though

why cant someone convert Trainz to BVE? is it possible?
-
You have to do it by hand...
-
Copyright issues will always get in the way if you want to convert a Trainz train to BVE.
If anybody knows Tony C. 's contact, I might be able to get the M3 here.
-
i agree with haven. why can't we just convert every single stuff from train to openbve like the metro north train and line
-
Off topic really quick, do you have to code for Trainz?
-
No and I dont know whether or not it is difficult to achieve.

you can always look in the original R62 for it
-
As A LIRR supporter ,I couldnt be happier with this progress

The answer is simple: It is NOT possible. Come on, really? We'd have every route under the sun if it were.
I'm aware that there is a Blender plugin that will convert .3DS files to CSV/B3D, however the amount of polygons generated for the object alone will crush any dreams of running routes smoothly.
Once Trainz IM(Indexed Mesh) files are in-game as .IM, they are irreversible and cannot be converted to any other format for editing.
My R160 model successfully made it from .3DS to .CSV...
...but with 14,230 polygons even the fastest computers can't run it. So in conclusion, Trainz models will never be available for BVE. Case closed.
Oh, and do not ask me about the status of the R160, because it is not in development for BVE period, and do not ask me for it. This is the development topic for the Long Island Railroad Route. I'm just clearing things up.

Actually its possible with a little cheating, as nobody can see how obvious the solution is. But since I do not have Trainz, and I'm certain there will be copyright issues, and just overall outcry of converting trains from Trainz to BVE, (cause its just unnatural) I dont think I want that to happen. If somebody knows this little cheat and wants to do it, with all the green lights for permissions and everything, then be my guest I'd love to see something like that.
Anyway this topic is about the LIRR Atlantic Avenue Branch route, and just the route. I'll figure out what train will be on this route when its done, which wont be anytime soon. Not the M3, not the M7, not Trainz, not converting trains. So now that we wasted a page of topic off topic, lets get back on topic, otherwise I'll start moderating.

So whats the fun into this LIRR route if you don't have A LIRR Train type then?

there is. The M3 that Lance just gave us from page 1 on this thread
here (http://web.archive.org/web/20041205003147/http://copper.takiweb.com/~ntwrkguy/bvesite/LIRRM3.exe)

Thank you Lance and thanks will

Mostly Lance :P lol

I'll talk to error and see if we have any M3 recordings. If we do then I'll make a run sound pack
-
hey kevin good job with development of the lirr atlantic branch to jamaica station. will the abandoned station o the line be in the route?
-
No it will not.
-
No it will not.
oh ok well it was just an idea.
-
I'm not all that familiar with the route, and the abandoned station may fall under the security risks. So I wont be putting them, or having any plans of doing so.
-
Kevin, I'd like to talk to you about some ideas I have for this project. Inbox me when you can.
-
Hmmm.... No process so far? Are you considering changing route development on Metro North Instead?
-
You probably found this thread by clicking the link from the M7 topic. I've stated on that thread that there is no progress on this route, and it is up for grabs for continued development. So if anyone wants to develop it, send me a PM and I'll send it over.
Do not ask for the route if you want to play it, you are warned there is no detailing what so ever, may not be accurate, and the tracks at Jamaica haven't even been placed.
