I think it looks pretty decent. Can't wait for them to start hauling ass down the NEC =)

So true to my word, I managed to somewhat perfect the EMD 710G3B sounds for the EMD powered locomotives. The sounds are basically identical to the PL42AC, so all we need now is for someone to develop the PL42AC body and a working panel, and I will gladly contribute the sounds and physical properties for the locomotive, as I am now well versed in that area. We would probably have to develop some NJT cars to go with the locomotive though, although that doesn't have to come right away haha. But without further adieu, here she is:

It's better if you just go watch this on youtube so you can read the description there:

Feel free to disagree with me, but this is the closest I can get to it after riding behind locomotives on Caltrain for the last week.

Photography / Amtrak California Capitol Corridor: LONG Rides

Here is the pair of 6 gb 2.5 hour videos that I shot back on July 5th. They took me forever to upload, but it was worth it. Even if you can't sit through 10 minutes of it, they still make for great audio background while you're doing other stuff. Enjoy =)

Content Development / P42DC Object File assistance requested.
« on: July 12, 2012, 01:37:28 pm »
I would like to make use of a P42DC object file that is found in the bvevirginia group of objects. In it's current state, the b3d only codes for half of the locomotive. one side is solid, and there is a front, but the other side is blank. If I send someone the relevant object files, would they be able to modify the b3d so that it codes for a complete (minus the rear, since there's no picture for the rear of the locomotive). In addition, there's an amfleet object that has the same issue. It would be nice if the same person could do that for me.

Another alternative is to show me how to manipulate the coding in the b3d file so that the textures are used on both sides of the object. Whatever suits you guys. Thanks.

Well, here you go =P

Another one of my now many offshoot modifications to the F40. It's not EMD powered anymore, so I figured it deserved it's own thread.

Transit / Ever Wanted to See How Fast BART can Really Accelerate?
« on: July 08, 2012, 04:11:35 am »
Well, now you can! Here it is; a largely uninterrupted clip of the speedometer as this BART train accelerates incrementally to its top operating speed. Enjoy:
Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Train Accelerating to 67 MPH (80 MPH Command Speed)
This video can also be used to program sounds for any future rolling stock for OpenBVE that uses similar architecture as this BART train ;)

The local was kinda rough starting out of stations, but overall, a decent ride:
New Jersey Transit Comet IIM on Train 3837 (Local) From Secaucus Junction to Princeton Junction

The express on the other hand, was a different story. These were shot on 6/27/12, the day where there were insane delays. 4646 manages to accelerate the 10 car  MLV set quite nicely out of Princeton, and we reach top speed in about 3 or so minutes. We continue to cruise, encountering an Amtrak NER train twice along the way before running into delays. Originally, I would have shot this all the way into Penn station, but because of the delays, I ran out of memory and had to conserve the last remaining mb's for other clips. What was supposed to take only 50 min ended up taking about an hour and a half.

This one's been sitting on my hard drive for a while, but I only just decided to download the free FRAPS to record and upload a clip of it. It's not exact, and the pitch is in a different key than the actual ALP-46A, but you get the point. Same deal with the F40PH-4ACe. all credit goes to the developer. And don't ask me for a download link or anything. Enjoy :)

With PL42AC AC Motor Sounds and EMD 645 Sounds.
All credit goes to the authors of these trains and their exteriors. Those used were the F40PH from bvevirginia, the prime mover spool-down sound from a version of the SD90MAC, and the Railjet cars + Siemens ES64U2 motor sounds found on this site: http://gothpaladinus.atw.hu/
This is version 1.0 of my experimentation, and took me about 3 hours or so to get it right. V2.0, when I get to it, will feature the actual HEP high idle from the PL42AC. This is for my personal use as of now, and in order to release it, I would need to gain permission from the respective authors, so don't go asking me for anything right now. Thanks, and enjoy =D
