A few questions...
« on: January 02, 2011, 12:53:50 pm »
1. How do I create B3D files..?

2. What editing software should be used to create train exteriors (in terms of picture editing).

The reason I need this is because I'm working on a custom (no release) R-30 train. Thanks for the help!
R1-103 will debut next summer!

Hand coding, look at the tutorials to learn how to create them.

If you dont want to deal with Gimp and can't get Photoshop but think Paint is too basic, I recommend Paint.NET, a freeware program that is more capable than paint yet simple enough that if you can use Paint then you'll be fine with it.

I also highly recommend this as well... It's really good, especially to straighten out pictures...

Getting back to the original two questions...

There will be a route/object building class hosted by blueblitz20, so if you're interested please refer to this topic: http://forums.bvestation.com/index.php?topic=274.0

A photo editing program is a photo editing program, and whether you like it or not it still serves it's purpose. I find GIMP to be much easier than all the rest, but I digress. Here are some suggestions, and you're welcome to choose any that works for you:

-GIMP
-Paint.NET
-Adobe Photoshop Creative Suite 3, 4, or 5
-Windows 7's Paint(Which is like the ghetto Photoshop but if you don't have Windows 7 then disregard this)

I hope this helps.

There are also several tutorials available on the BVEStation Homepage, on the top bar, where it says develop.

http://www.bvestation.com/devzone.php

There are many object building tutorials listed there in addition to some newer ones written from our friends across the pond.  I suggest you take a look.

Good luck! If anyone's interested in making an exterior view or object for the R11 I was able to snap a couple photos of it from last year's Busfest while it was sitting in the Transit museum, let me know if you would like those photos.
