Title: (RELEASED) Status of the (D) and (F) Routes.
Post by: Mr Railfan on June 19, 2012, 02:53:17 am
These Lines have been updated and can now be found on the download section here: http://www.bvestation.com/downloads.php (http://www.bvestation.com/downloads.php)

Ok guys wanted to post a status update on the two routes:

The (D):
Whats finnished:

-is currently fully updated with Timers

-Brightness feature (darkness in tunnel) and updated announcements.

-NTT announcements have been installed for the full route from 205 to CI.

Whats Left:

- Fully get rid of glitches and update station textures
- replace outdated / old static train objects with new or moving objects
- Add route scenarios to the NTT version [like reroutes or short turns]
-Update and finnish the stretch between Bay 50 ST and CI
- Add AI speed limits
- Convert Audio files to .flac format to save space
-Add in an express Concourse route

The (F)
Whats Finished:

-Fully upgraded with timers
-Brightness command added
-Updated Static trains
- Full overhaul of NTT announcements and replacement with HD audio
- Various Scenarios have been added
-Fix all Known glitches
-Speed limits added to AI trains [no more over running timers]
-AI trains reflect what time you are running the train (EX:
More AI trains and shorter headways during the rush hour route , long headways on late night and weekend route)
-Local on Queens Blvd after Roosevelt ave (thanks to BRR)

Whats Left:

-Add in Beacon command so compatible trains go into emergency if you run a timer.
-Add more route scenarios and
-add weather elements to route scenarios
-Fully upgrade all station textures
-Replace static buildings with more identical ones found while running the route
-Local via 53st
-Local via queens Blvd local after 21st QuensBridge / Queens Plaza.

I will soon post screen shoots of the route , along with a preview video. I believe the F will be released before the D as im spending more time updating the F route.

The F [Version 4.5] should be released some time this month if all goes well.

F [version 5] will be released this summer with updated Buildings and station textures , and the D will follow after.

Also on a side note I have also updated the (A) with timers from 207 to lefferts . It will be released once the updated a to Rock Park / Far rockaway is released.

Also does anyone know if there are any timers between 169 and 179?

Yea trains still fly in 179th at least 37-40 MPH unless timers or a timer was added from two weeks ago.

Alright , thanks as of now there are no Timers there (169 to 179) in the route.

Just a little suggestion. I notice that routes here always have clean catwalks (yellow thing next to track). Their real life counterparts always have some rust or dirt on them. If you'd like I can get a texture for you guys.

In anticipation to the release of the R46, I am adding in some more scenarios to the F and getting rid of some bug fixes. Version 4.51 should be released later today or tomorrow.

Just wondering, will the final product feature Tjay's new objects, or will you just keep the old ones? And I do agree with Nelson, I think photorealistic catwalks would be a great idea.
Title: Re: Status of the (D) and (F) Routes.
Post by: Mr Railfan on June 27, 2012, 02:37:09 pm
version 4.51 [this is not the final version, just an updated version i want to put out as the new r46 was released] will not have tjays objects put in except signals and various signals i modified for realism (timers etc.) . I will try my best to update the catwalk and other elements of the track and update all stations with HD textures. I would also like to update the bay parkway cemetery so its not just a plain in the route, and update coney island so it looks a bit more realistic. Im also planing to add in more building from the neighborhoods surrounding the F so its a bit more realistic.

Again i would not release anything until i have updated everything to satisfaction but since the release of the r46 i wanted to push out what i finished.

Right now im fixing a few bugs i encountered.

Wonderful job Mr.Railfan, if this F is released according to plan, ima probably have to put back openbve on my computer lol. Good luck on the rest of the route Emil :D Also I just wanted to share my last bit of advice for the F before this release; the lights in the tunnel between 21st Queensbridge and Roosevelt Av.(before the local tracks merge/rise) have changed from yellow lights to new white lights. I ride the F everyday coming home from school so I cant wait for this updated line. Congrats Mr.Railfan for your hard work and dedication. If i may add, will you throw in your new R160 with the download?

Title: (F) v4.51 , R160 Alstom v2.0 Released!!
Post by: Mr Railfan on June 28, 2012, 01:05:15 am
The F and R160 have both been sent to administration so it should be in the download section soon. (R160 has been posted in the DL section , link below).

F v4.51
http://www.bvestation.com/downloadinfo.php?id=87 (http://www.bvestation.com/downloadinfo.php?id=87)
R160 Alstom v2.0
http://www.bvestation.com/downloadinfo.php?id=86 (http://www.bvestation.com/downloadinfo.php?id=86)

What to expect from this version of the F:

All dependencies are included in the download. If you have downloaded the previous version of the F or/and have the A D and V lines then you should be prompted to overwite alot of files. Remember to allow this process.

Now once installing make sure the "Route" folder merges with the Route Directory and the same goes for the "Sound" and "Object" folders into their respective directories for openbve.

How the Files should look like inside your computer.

The object folder should have these folders:

Objects>(8thAve)(Culver)(IND Valley Stream)(LefShut)(NYCTCommon)(Octavia)(V Line)

Sound should look like this:

Sound>(CulverS)>(F6)(F7)(F8)(F9)(F10)(F11)(F12)

Route should look like this:

Route>(NYCT-F [v4.51])>(NTT)(SMEE)

The folder containing the routes is split into two folders NTT and SMEE

The NTT folder contains various scenarios with Automated announcements.

The SMEE folder contains Various scenarios pertaining to non automated stock [IE: r46 , r32 etc.]

Please note this is a high quality route and you should expect lag on lower end computers.

For the R160:
I uploaded this just so you guys can enjoy it with the F route. Since the exterior is not finished, included is the old one. The exterior being made by Error will be released later this year.

Sorry about that , every other site i tried to upload either corrupts at like 90% or doesn't allow uploads of more than 100MB

I sent the file to Ipac , so as soon as he downloads it and posts it into the download section ill remove the link . Anyways enjoy the route.

I should have worded it better . You have to use a image editor and edit in whatever line you want into the panel.png image. It's Currently impossible to add a rollsign type feature for the cab so that you can scroll through routes, unless of course, it is a 3d cab.

Mr. Railfan, great job on the route. However, I do have a question.

With the downloaded F, there were a couple of folders that caught my eye:

8thAve
IND Valley Stream
LefShut
NYCTCommon
Octavia
V Line

It is my understanding that these folders are included in other routes. All of these folders are estimated to be around 450 MB when extracted, but was there a need to include all of these? I rather have you tell us to download certain routes as dependencies and include the files not in the other routes. This would save a ton of download time and extraction time. Like I said, I love the work, but I'm just throwing a thought out there...

Yes i purposely did this to make it easier on people so they dont have to download a ton of dependencies. I should have made a version with out it, but i was having upload difficulties earlier.

The exterior has not been worked on yet, i just put the old exterior on so that it would not just be a grey box in the exterior. This is why it turns improperly

Okay, so I have a couple of suggestions:

The Church Avenue Bound F train via Culver Local doesn't actually terminate at Church Avenue. The last stop announcements plays at Church Avenue, yet the AI will still keep going on normally and openBVE does not report Church Avenue as being the terminal station.  Also, after Ditmas Avenue the train is supposed to switch over to the middle track in order to terminate on the express tracks at Church. In the local route released, the train terminates on the local track.  Also before approaching Church Avenue, the train then may switch over to the Coney Island bound express track at Church Avenue if there is already a train terminated on the Manhattan bound express track.

There are many route scenarios for the NTTs, but very little for the SMEEs. If someone could manually do the announcements, then the different scenarios should also be done for the SMEE (for ex. Shuttle to Avenue X)

Im going to do the Track Switching as you suggested for a coupe of scenarios and ill fix the AI issue. I was planning to do the same thing for the SMEE version but i didnt have anyone to record announcements and i didnt want to voice them all. As soon as i get some people to record it then ill add in scenarios for the SMEEs.

I just drove one of the F line scenarios provided in the download (NTT/F (RH)[CI To 179 - Culver LCL - 6 Av LCL - Queens EXP].csv).

I noticed a couple of things.

* There are two signal objects before the switch west of the Lexington Avenue-63rd Street station. This, of course, should be a home signal.

* The whole 63rd Street tunnel portion seems to use old tunnel construction objects.

It appears that the forced red signal parameter is being used excessively at stations. The only station where, IMO, it makes sense is at Rockefeller Center.
For instance, cell H4218
Quote
Code: [Select]
.sta Delancey St;;;0;1;1;ats;;10;50;CulverS\F7\Delancey_dep.flac
should be
Code: [Select]
.sta Delancey St;;;0;R;0;ats;;10;50;CulverS\F7\Delancey_dep.flac.

While we're on the subject of stations, I noticed a bug on the opening of the doors at 179th Street station. When the doors open, the last stop announcement should play, utilizing the
 ArrivalSound parameter of Track.sta.

Corrected cell R6880:
Code: [Select]
.sta 179th Street;12.1545;12.1615;0;1;1;ats;CulverS\F7\Last_dep.flac;10;50;
I notice a combination of Track.SigF and Track.Section commands are being used. Nice. Though I would suggest editing the Track.Section command as follows:
Code: [Select]
.Section 0;0;2;4 so that I don't encounter the train in front of me as I almost did approaching 179th Street.

Again, nice work!

Alright guys just wanted to update you on the progress. I have started updating station textures and adding in some new building objects on the F. I have also added more Scenarios and more options of starting points. For example, you can now start at Church ave , ave X , smith 9 street , Jay Street , 2nd Ave , 57 street , 21 street queens bridge and Forest hills. I have also added more short turns and all General order scenarios and short turns now feature rush hour , weekend etc. Announcements. Also for the NTT version , i have added in the correct late night announcements for the F in Manhattan.   As a bonus i have also included F via A , F via C and F via D line scenarios with different terminals and starting points and all with proper NTT announcements. I have also Created a (C) , (E) , (G) (M) and (V) train scenarios that have different starting positions, terminals and all with NTT announcements .

What is next:
I will add a slight dark fog to the tunnel to simulate the darkness found in the tunnel.

Update the Signal Section commands so that you have 2-3 signals Red before the train infront.

Add more Miscellaneous G.O scenarios like wrong railing , construction and the Culver viaduct construction.

Add a scenario where trains go local after Roosevelt ave and after forest hills.

I also need someone to Create announcements for the non NTT scenarios so that its on par with the NTT version

Anyways Stay tuned more updates coming.

Oh i forgot , i will also be placing animated objects like buses, cars etc.

I will also be updating jayjays F to New hyde park road with timers and brightness command (although it will only be for SMEE stock)

I'm also working to reorganize the routes as there will be over 50 in the NTT folder.

I will also be adding in a Yard move scenario (non stop from CI to 71 ave) , a Fan Trip scenario , and a garbage train scenario .

I will try and get this out by the end of the summer and may have an updated download coming out by the end of the month.

alright , i've been thinking about on how im going to work on this project and i've come to the decision of releasing a scenario activity pack by the end of the month (or sooner). After that, there will be no updates until the final F v5 is released (hopefully by the end of the summer). Ill have some more details on the scenario pack closer to the day of release, so stay tuned.

For the final F v5, you should look into having smooth curves for the local tracks, which if I remember correctly are not smooth.

Great news guys! I finally managed to create a Animated WD (Wheel Detector) Signal. This is a crucial part to some of the upcoming scenerios on the F and D and im certain it will be helpful along the IRT lines.

There's only one thing i gotta ask , does the Wheel Detector , Blink first and then (once the train is going the proper speed) maintains a steady lunar white , or does it maintain a steady light first and then blink?

Anyways stay tuned!

Here's a video : The WD is the Blinking white light

Lo - V Entering Nevins Street Layup from Atlantic Ave (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gp6MuizAGH0#ws)

They are placed at switch points and Yards/layups . They measure the trains speed and bring it to a halt if you exceed that speed.

Here's a good definition from Subchat:

"If active, the first light attached to the WD sign will be solid, which is a warning to the T/O that you're entering an active WD area.

A bit further up will be a sign specifying the speed for the area, like "WD-20". The light beyond this sign, which was previously off, will start to flash as a warning that it's currently calculating your speed. If you're doing more than 20 MPH, it will continue flashing, and eventually trip your train. If you're maintaining 20 MPH or less, the flashing will soon turn solid, to let you know you're in the clear for now."  If you speed up before the "WD End" sign , they you're train will be tripped , making it more harsh then a Timer signal.

I'll try and post a video of it in action in openbve later

For the F train starting at Avenue X that would be really cool if we could start from the yard tracks... same for the route that startes from King Highway. Start the train from the Ave. X yard tracks, merge onto the express track and go to Kings Highway, then start taking in passengers there and then switch to the local track

Or just keep going Express, since almost that is the program of the entire route. But it would be nice to see a start in a yard. I know you guys can build yards, I like the small scale one that was on the (Q).

some of the NYCT routes start at a yard. Like the Brooklyn Bound (C), and the (X) to perth Amboy

The X & the C don't start at the yard.

They begin the route from a lay-up track which is different. The yard for the C is Pitkin Yard which is all the way in Brooklyn/Queens right after Grant Avenue.

Like the R Shuttle and the F train routes. Right after you finished the run you place the trainset onto a lay-up track.
On the F, right after 179 st, and the R after 36, you place the train on a layup track, not in the yard.

Heres an example of what a train yard looks like.

What YankeesPwnMets mean is to start the route from the yard itself and move on to the destination
As you see in the video the train moves out of Coney Island Yard which is just near the Ave. X station

Actually, there IS a yard just north of 168th street, the 174th street yard. It is underground, and is used to store the (C) trains, so technically the (C) line does start from a yard. The Pitkin yard is mainly used to store the (A) trains, not the (C)

Right. Pitkin is used to maintain the R46s on the (A). Just because it is right after Euclid doesn't mean it is for the (C).

I think i'll update you guys on what i have been working on. I was planning on releasing this with the F v5 as a bonus scenario but since then i decided to add more "time based scenarios". So here is what i have been working on:

And of course i wouldn't release this without a proper rollign stock so here are some previews of the BMT Standard:

The scenario will have a 1969 F from CI to 57-6ave with proper rolling stock along the route [r16/r30/r32/r40s/r40m/r42]
and a 1954 pre IND connection of the F from CI to 9 ave lower level . If i get a hang of the coding and have more time i will also add a scenario where it will continue going after 9 ave , merge with the 4 ave subway and travel to Chmabers Street. That's a long shot but it's what i have planned .

I will post more details soon!

The (D) looks fine to me. All it needs is the program for Concourse and West End Express, although I have seen some members here get very mad about the proposal, saying it was not realistic...

For those who disagree, all I have to say is this; The (F). End of story.

I want to play the (N) Astoria/Broadway/4 Av/Sea Beach Express.

It's being worked on. We need HQ textures for the sea beach stations (86 street to 8 ave). Other than that we still need to add in signals and proper station walls in Manhattan and 4 ave. Again my best guess for release is sometime late this year or early 2013. But it is in development.

If anyone can provide textures feel free to post it here, the content contributor page or by Private messaging me. You will be compensated by helping out the project. Once there is sufficient progress i, or another member who is helping out will post an update in the (N) Route thread.

I forgot to mention , i was talking about the Astoria bound (N), not the Coney Island Bound one.

Ok. I wish I could help out, but I do not live in new york, and also I am not the best person at gathering textures. I guess that means no Sea Beach Express since it is NB  :-[. Back to the (D) and (F) now. Sorry to stray us off topic.

I haven't posted any updates for a while, so i figured i'd update you on some progress.

I'm currently reworking all F and D train announcement so they take up less space and they will be included in the new 6 ave sound folder which will be released with the (B) to Brighton. The folder should be pretty big, but will feature nearly all possible Reroutes or short turns for the (B) (D)  and (F) routes - given the route direction . For example i'm not include reroutes like the B to 207 street as we don't have a route going there - yet. I'm also reworking the F file with updated timer information and updating textures. After this is complete, i will update nearby scenery. The 1955 scenerio is still a way's from being complete and will be released at a separate time from the main project. The (D) to coney Island and (F) will be released at the same time. I have a vacation coming up so this will allow me the much needed time to complete the project. I will post some screenshots soon.

There will be a local b/w Roosevelt ave and 179 ; and from forest hill to 179 (Current real life Routing of the F).

There is quite a lot of converting i need to do along with coding to make it go local after 21-Queensbridge, but it will be available in a later update. As an alternative for the meantime, i'll add a F from 2nd ave to Forest hills via 53 and queens blvd local (Route of the old V).

Awesome job Mr Railfan quick question on the new updated routes I noticed on the new F V 4.5 there is moving AI trains not only in front of you but on the opposite tracks (im going uptown moving AI on the downtown track) Im just asking not sure what is entailed from a developer standpoint to make more moving AI trains  especially say if your a local train to have a express train on your route same direction go bye you or vice versa.Im not sure how that affects lag or such. Either way gr8 routes man you developers on here are amazing keep up the good work :)

The AI trains passing on the opposite track r animated trains that move at the same speed as u( ur going 20, that train moves at 20).

Well the way i have the "AI Trains" on the opposite track move is by making them (each car) an object and then animating it with a speacial code to move. The code either has it where a object moves independently from the player at a set speed for a set distance , or dependent on the player (such as the ai train that goes 20mph when you go 20 mph). It's difficult to implement this and can only be don on perfectly level and straight track.

I should also add, expect to see more of them on the upcoming update

I just ran the 4.5.1 version of the F line using the latest openBVE's AI, start to finish (just the 1st route: exp/lcl/exp).  Some comments:

I know it had to be a monumental effort, and, like I said, it's really great to look at!  If I wasn't such a techno-geek, it would be just  as great to run through it myself!  Cheers!

I have been updating the B line, so that the Q line would have proper signals for the release two days ago, and in return this has been helping out the D line. I should have both, the (B) and (D) updated by new years. As for the (F) i haven't had time to work on that as i was updating the (Q) (N) (D) and (B) lines.
