Station Talk / Video support back on BVEStation Downloads.
« on: February 16, 2015, 01:31:57 am »
If you guys haven't noticed, we lost video support on the BVEStation downloads.  The good news is its coming back, but we are currently restricting it to just 1 video per download page, just like before.  If you would like to feature your video on any one download, make a post here with the video and the download page you want it to be featured on.  The video should feature some part of the route, with a train that is released and downloadable.  No pre-released or in development content should be featured on the videos, just a pure representation of what the user should expect when they download.

Are you attempting to create some standards for the community? If they are agreed by everyone/large majority of developers, we can get this published on our wiki.

Curving the bottom is done either through an illusion of a gradient based texture, or more polygons added onto the object.

If you are still having problems, you may want to consider using an older version of OpenBVE available on the site.

This has been fixed, again if you do not wish to see an ad before the download. Use your BVEStation login on the site.

Because of increased costs, those are ads which are used to help pay for the new servers that we are hosted on.  If you do not want to see the ads, use the BVEStation Forum login.

I think Fan Railer posted a track map of the LIRR somewhere, have you taken a look at that, as it might be of help.  Otherwise I'll be checking out this route later on tonight!  8)

Station Talk / Recent Spam Attack
« on: February 08, 2015, 12:18:24 pm »
I'd like to apologize for the recent spam attack we just endured, despite the fact that we had already added public blacklists to try to prevent some spam, we couldn't stop all of it.  I thank everyone who made reports earlier today.  From now on, all new registrations will need to be approved by admins, and we have added additional moderators to help with the cleanup in the event one gets through.

We have also installed a new CAPTCHA system.

There are a couple of object packs that are available in the Downloads section.  You may find the NYCT Object Pack by TJay to be useful, just be sure to mention him in your credits.  If you do manage to get this out, maybe I'll continue working on my Atlantic Ave Branch, and simply extend it through what you made  ::)

Content Development / Re: openBVE DLL development?
« on: February 06, 2015, 07:09:30 pm »
Are you talking about developing for trains?  There are a handful of train plugins out there that use DLL's, but they are no longer encouraged, because of backwards compatibility.

Take a look at our wiki for an API reference under Plugins.  http://wiki.bvestation.com/index.php/Main_Page  Unfortunately, not many of us have experience with it, but if you do run into issues, we'll try to help as much as we can.

The v1.4.3 source code appears to be using the new plugin system, but I myself haven't explored that section of the code.

Content Development / Re: 3ds max model to .csv?
« on: February 06, 2015, 12:57:48 am »
Unfortunately there isn't a known way to import a 3ds max model to CSV.  OpenBVE does have partial support for .x files however, with my experimentation, only simple .x objects work.  You may want to try finding an importer to a .x format and maybe you'll get something in OpenBVE, but again, there is only partial support.  When I created a basic cylinder in a .x format, only half the faces showed, giving me a staggered cylinder...  Otherwise, there isn't a known way.

BVEStation Network News / Older Versions of OpenBVE
« on: February 05, 2015, 11:15:46 pm »

If you are looking for an older version of OpenBVE, or you are having issues with the latest versions of OpenBVE.  BVEStation's got you covered.  Previously on the old site, we had it buried somewhere deep on the website.  Now you can easily find it on our downloads section, by clicking Programs.  You can also just follow the links here.  Again these versions were used in development, but had whatever add-on that was being worked on removed, so this is as close as you can get to a pure version.

OpenBVE v1.2.3
OpenBVE v.1.2.3 Source
OpenBVE v1.3.4
OpenBVE v.1.3.4 Source

We take absolutely no responsibility of these programs, and you are to run this software at your own risk.

Content Development / Re: Adding a Route to the Downloads Page
« on: February 05, 2015, 07:15:42 pm »
Yep, just be sure to package the file as a 7zip, zip or rar file.  Also have a screenshot for it and fill out the form.  Don't forget to announce it on the forums when it is finished! If you have any problems or further questions regarding the new downloads section, don't hesitate to ask.

Yep definitely, for now there are ways to sort and filter through the downloads on the menus on the right.  We will be creating "collections", to further organize the downloads in the future.  There will certainly be one by route number/letters in these collections.
