I have been really busy with private stuff and publicity stuff asd I have not been keeping up on the MTA stuff
and i am trying to catch myself up as fast as I can and today I saw an R46 F train at 42nd street and
I was thinking WTF so what I want to know is how long has this been happeneing
-
Since about Late last month/early this month the R46 has shown up on the F. This is due to the summer pick.
-
alright thanks so is that the same thing with seeing the R32A train and R46 C train recently on youtube as well
-
The R32s can pop up on the (A), just not as frequently as the R46 on the (F). An R46 was placed on the (C) because of the July 4th holiday. The MTA decided to increase service after the fireworks.
-
Alright thanks is there anything else I need to know because I am about 5 months late on
The info and I want to catch up
-
Besides the (N) and (Q) using a few more R68(A)s than before, not much else has changed.
-
alright thanks good to know
-
There is also R68's on the (G) train and some in Coney Island yard signed up as the (G)
-
I had an interview that I needed to take the G train to go to so I already knew about the R68 G
-

Ah, yes. I forgot about that one.
-
Here's some more detailed info.
1: Any R160s that ran on the R are now gone.
2: The F now has a few sets of R46s assigned to it (not including put-ins, which I have heard have recently been usually R46 sets)
-
To add-on what Dj said just because the (R) has no assigned R-160's doesn't mean 1 or 2 or a few can pop up any day b\c that is Jamaica's equipment so we shouldn't see any threads saying 160's are back on the (R).
One day there may be more 46's on the (F) which means a few more 160's on the (R).But everyone is correct.
Don't be surprised to see 160's on the (R),46's on the (F),R68/A on the (N)(Q)*more of a chance on weekends due to R-160's getting breaks b\c mileage* R32 (A) and 46 (C) can happen anytime*most likely equipment shortage* could be a stalled or broken down train.
-
I heared somewhere that the extra R46 on the (G) were placed on the (F), and some R160 On the (F) were placed on the (R), during weekdays, there is at least one set on the (R) that ive seen,

Its likely. Those R46s are just sitting in the yard, might aswell couple up two sets together and dash em on the (F)
-
How about the new train order?
And when will the R142/A be moved to the 7 or something like that?
-
I've been brainstorming lately. Could these trains sitting in the yards be coming from the route cuts?
-
Well the G's R46's are there because of the summer pick. The summer pick shifted R68's on the (G) and displaced the R46's.

They order has been placed already. As far as the R142/A to the 7 around a few years or so
-
The G is now at Coney Island yard so it is now using CI-based R68s instead of Jamaica R46s.
The R142A/R188s to the 7 should happen within a few years as bve said; there is already one R142A set in Yonkers undergoing conversion.

It depends on what trains you are talking about, the R160 from CIY are taking a break because of how much mileage they have, which resulted the N, Q to have some R68A's back from the B. There is a rumor that the R160 might go on the B since it only runs on weekdays.
-
so basically with the R68A's on the N and Q increasing the spare R160's will go on the B am I a getting this right

Its a thought, but not 100% true, again its a rumor

hmm that's interesting. Is that why there have been 46's on the F? I was talking about the R68s and R46s. The R68s went into the G, and some of those R46s are on the F. Correct me if I'm wrong. I figured the surplus of these trains came from the cuts since the W sometimes used 68's (?) and the V 46's(?).
-
going back to the R46's on the F didn't the MTA take them off the F to prevent them from getting stuck
in the tunnels after the chrystler street tunnel

The R68 that were on the G IIRC were either from the W or the B/D ( Not sure about that) The R46 that were on the V were sent to the A to replace the R44, the F got the R46 back because of extras that were from the G, (Mostly used for put ins) but as i stated, the R160's have wayyyyy to much mileadge on them, so its a possibility u see a R46 F or a R68A on the N and Q once in a while.

Yes, but things change over time.

That is not why the R46s got pulled off the F. The F line does not run through the Chrystie Street Cut.
The R46s were sent off the F by R160s. These R46s all went to the A line to replace R38s and R44s.

Yeah the R-46's or any other 75 footer won't get stuck if 1 does make it through the cut. They can run pretty much on the entire (M) its just extremely tight curves will limit speed in certain parts and there will be 1 train limited on the bridge due to swaying which may cause trains to sideswipe.

Yea that's pretty much what I was thinking. Now, are all of the R46's from the G on the F or another line?

I heard they didn't like doing that, but it should be OK as long as nobody screws up. In fact, R46's have been by there many times(not throught the cut).

The Extra R46's went to the (F). There might be others laying around or on the (R)
-
the 46 F happened because of the 46's from the G that got pushed out by the 68's.
expect to see more 46's on the F once the G becomes fully R68.
-
now that the G train is being based out of coney island is it possible that there might be a few R160 G
sightings
-
Well the pick only calls for R68's
-
my question is where are all of these 68s magically popping out from? The D seems fine to me unless they were stashing sets from the W in some underground chamber lol

That is highly unlikely that they would but R160 on the G...that was only a one time thing

Maybe they had R68's laying around in the Yard and they uncoupled them to make 4 car sets for the (G)
-
they come from the d trains and being replace by r68a
-
1: There will be no R160 G trains whatsoever unless there is a G/O.
2: The G's R68s are coming from the B line equipment pool. IDK what is going to fill in on the B.
3: The #1 reason for why 75 footers are not allowed in the East is because of sideswipe risk.
The curve off of the bridge on the Brooklyn side, the Myrtle avenue curves, and the sharp curve near cypress hills are all places where a 75 footer can sideswipe other cars and signals.

The B has the R68A from the N,Q

Even though theres no R-160's assigned to the (B) and (G) don't be surprised if one pops up b\c that is Coney Islands equipment and they will run whatever they have for the replacement.
Same thing with the (R) there may not be 160's assigned but u may see pop ups from time to time(Jamaica's equipment).A few weeks ago a T/O told some of us that a R-46 was on the (E) in the morning.
-
4 Express is correct. While there may be no R160's assigned to the G, the fact that it is based out of Coney Island Yard means that an R160 may run on the line once in a blue moon as a put in. But don't show up at Church Avenue and wait for a R160 G, because you will end up waiting for days.
