R188 @ Corona Yard

So here we have, a fresh 5-car set of R188's that arrived yesterday to Corona Yard. Here it is currently as of today. It is sporting the diamond <7> on the front LED.

You mean six. Remember, the (7) runs 11-car trains.

Technically it is an R142A..it's a refurbished R142A with CBTC equipment installed behind the cab. Its very likely the R179s will look just like R160s seeing the MTA continues its trend of 'fleet uniformity'.

btw you cannot become a motorman right after high school, you need a certain amount of work experience before you can become qualified to be a motorman. you can be a conductor and work your way up however

Thats what I was wondering looks like an R-142A from the exterior the only difference stated above is the cab installations the interior can have a FIND though but no noticeable differences in that R-142A still has the fleet numbers nothing has changed  :o

There is no point for the conversion sets (and new R188 cars) to have FiNDS as they will just solely run on the (7) <7>. In fact, a TA worker told me it is more likely it will have a strip map than a FiND.

Exactly just a waste and spending more money the #7 has been ranked very well with those 62A's.Better off with the stripmap anyways!

There was no idea to put FIND displays on the R188 anyways. it was just a wide spreaded rumor.

AFAIK the R188 has no FIND, only strip maps.

As you know, the entire Flushing Line solely hosts the (7), just like the BMT Canarsie Line solely hosts the (L), which explains why both were picked to use CBTC in the first place, as they are both self-contained routes.

If i remember correctly CBTC wasnt just picked for the L because its a self containing route , but due to the sheer Volume of complaints on the Line . Pre CBTC ,  the line was much slower[Less TPH] and more packed then it it today . Same thing with the 7 . By bringing CBTC to the 7 , there will be more TPH and less crowding due to faster train service and more trains .
