Title: Full F from Coney Island - Stillwell Avenue
Post by: ipac on February 20, 2011, 10:33:51 pm
Today here at BVEStation we've reached a historic milestone in the current generation of non-fictional BVE routes.  We now have a route that travels from Coney Island - Stillwell Avenue, and is the first full route that runs through Brooklyn.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the F.

Great! I'll check this out probably later or tomorrow or whenever I get the chance. And this is not the 1st full route that runs through Brooklyn. The routes that run through Brooklyn that are full runs are the (A)(C)(G)(L)(N)Franklin Shuttle & several fictional routes. Also the (Q)<Q> N/B.

Try re-downloading it into the correct folder. IT should be there. If not, you're not saving it into the correct folder.
what about the local stops after 71st avenue?there's only express to union tpke and to parsons :(
It will be fixed in later versions so that it will go local after Forest Hills-71 Avenue.
Is the auto announcements file the new route, or still the Smith/9 version?
Don't download that add-on. The automatic announcements are already installed with the download. Just click that route that said, "(To 179 using R160 train set).

From the development thread:
Just tried out the newest F and there's just a couple of things, qb local is missing, use -1 for stations that open on the left side, and the switch at Ditmas is set for the express.

QB local will be added later

Honestly guys, reading is fundamental.

Great route, probably only thing wrong with it was the information given after passing Smith-9th Street; it isn't really BQE yet, still called Gowanus, I'd say around where the F/G descends back underground, then it would be called the BQE.  Other then that, fantastic!

Most likely yes and this may be pushed back aka delayed due to JayJay working on the (4) also so its benefits the help of another member basically getting less work to do and getting the route done quicker but the J/Z is nearly finished.

Hey man watch the caps that is considered "yelling" and if you continue to do this an admin or mod will moderate your posts. But you have to make sure you have everything required for these routes. If I were you I would start in alphabetical order downloading the routes with A since many routes rely on the (A)'s object folder including fictional routes.

Ok I just checked the (F) requires the (A)(V) and the Octavia folder. So I would recommend you to download the mainfiles again then the dependencies which are the (A)(V) and Octavia folder. But what BVE version are you using Open,BVE2 or 4?

What's up folks? I can't lie, I do think it is a bit annoying and kind of insane for 1 route to have so many dependencies. I do understand that it's supposed to minimize having more than one of the same objects, but it actually has become kind of convoluted. Some people may not want to have all the routes. For example, JayJay's Z extention requires not only the full F, but all of the other required files and I do think that's kind of insane just to run an extention. I have all of the required files to run the F and I still get error messages and missing files, so I do understand the frustration of some of the people here. I'm not trying to blast anyone or belittle because you all do great work, but this dependency thing is kind of crazy.

what if there was just one common object folder that all of the NYCTA routes use? Then just distribute it along with an updater application. Correct if im wrong but I think that route files may need to have their coding changed in order to reference the correct object folder though.

Of course it should also be distributed as a .7z file for mac and linux users.

Just my two cents on the topic.  ;)

We're working on that. Notice how the objects for all of Joe's routes are separated by trunk lines, it made a lot more sense to sort the objects that way, but of course this organization method in itself is also imperfect.  Another idea was the NYCTCommon folder, which some people may have but I don't know what happened to that. Speaking on the F, I believe JayJay tried to minimize the dependencies by just releasing the octavia folder but in the end whatever he creates is his prerogative and hopefully he'll find a way to cut down on dependencies in the future.

I agree to the point that it is developer's choice, but if you look at the london underground routes as well as about 95% of the BVE world, they mainly have individual files which makes it simpler for people to install and play. I've been on the BVE scene since 2000 and as far as I can tell, we are the only group that does this. Sure there are some routes that may have 1 dependency, 2 at the most, but for the most part, they all carry seperate folders.

First, welcome to BVEStation Forums. Richie, if you keep on getting these errors make sure that everything is in the correct places the (F).csv or .rw file should be in the routes folder. make sure that you have the A V and the Q routes along with it, or else it wont work. The objects folder from the A V and Q lines should be in the c:\program files\bve\railway\objects. and the sounds obviously goes in c:\program files\bve\railway\sounds.

If another problem comes up like this again post a new topic in the BVE/OpenBVE support center

Hope this helps.
