Transit / Re: (F) Train to Lefferts Blvd ~ Why?
« on: September 08, 2012, 11:58:20 am »
As Max said , they save money by not running the shuttle and simply replacing it with the (F), since the (F) is already going to Euclid ave.
It costs money to uncouple 8 car R46 sets in to 4 car R46 sets for Lefferts Shuttle service, and then to operate the service.
Its a lot easier to add a few more trainsets and crews to the F to extend it to Lefferts.
I didn't know it costed money to couple and uncouple cars and that the Lefferts Shuttle used 4-car sets. Thanks

the lefferts shuttle is not running and the A goes to far rockaway
Thats what I wasn't going for. I meant Why stop the shuttle from running and because of that extend the (F)? Unless its to ease any congestion there would be at Euclid from the Lefferts shuttle terminating.

Transit / (F) Train to Lefferts Blvd ~ Why?

I was just going through the service changes for this weekend when something caught my attention:

Why would they send (F) trains to Lefferts at nights instead of Euclid?

I just have one minor suggestion, try taking out the black outline on the poles otherwise excellent job

Thank my dude . You've been such a big help. ;)
No problem

You could have also just re-typed one of the other bullets to frontD while changing the original frontD to something random. That's how I changed it since the train was coded to dispaly whatever bullet lies under frontD.
That's another option that will work also. You can also go into the coding and change the name of the file also. I just listed one option

I've tried that already. When I open the "frontD" file, the windows picture and fax veiwer opens that file for me. I can't modifiy or change the file from there. what do I do? Now if you want me to open the file for editing (paint) then thats cool. Which i've done already so now what do I do?
Do it in paint and save it

Can anyone please tell me how to change the front rollsign on the R68 by Mr. Railfan? I've been tring to figure this out for hours.lbs
It's pretty simple:
1) Open up the R68 folder you want to modify.
2) Go to the "Exterior" folder and look for the file "FrontD"
3) Open the file and paste the bullet for the route.
- If the bullet you have is smaller than the one there, go to the bottom right of the picture and drag the marker all the way to the top. Then paste the image.
- If the bullet you have is bigger, you're free to just paste the image
4) Save the file
5) Run  OpenBVE

Couldnt believe it until now lol, Nice to see MTA keeping passengers happy about the time of there commute.

& btw is it true that the Q44 might have +SBS+? I hear people talking about it comming someday....
I know that there were plans for the B44 to get +SBS+ and thats the only one I know off

Effective Last Sunday September 2nd, the S79 joins the BX12, M15, M34/A in becoming a Select Bus Service Line. On average, passengers save 7 minutes on their daily commute which is far less than the MTA Estimate of 15-20 minutes.

I did that on the Bad Kinzau Route and I ended up driving so badly my passengers wanted to leave the bus. Bouncing up and down trying to get out

After coming back from a vacation that includes a stopover in Zurich, Switzerland, I found it absolutely amazing how far behind NYC is from Europe technologically. I would be willing to bet that something like this, let alone a bi-articulated bus in general, will not end up here for a long time.
The article states how the rear section of the bus steers itself to avoid that issue.
I see what you were talking about, I saw the part you were talking about, but didn't think much of it
Quote
Even more surprising, the AutoTram can be driven by any bus driver; no special license is required. The bus got the green light because of a special train-like steering algorithm that ensures the two rear sections, which rest on four guided axles, perfectly follow the cab.

I don't really think it would be because of that. Some depots may not be able to maintain/store the bus because its so long.

Anyway, it must be a real headache driving that thing.
Try taking that thing around any tight corner in manhattan, wouldn't be easy. The driver would probably think:
"Oh crap, a corner" then turns reluctantly
"oh,oh,oh thank god I made it" While the last section is still turning then hears something
"CRAP! What the hell happen?!" Somebody comes knocking on the bus and tells the driver that he took out a whole traffic light
"S*it"
